Like a million bucks

It recently came to my attention that I was published (for the 2nd time) on the certified Rich Kids of Instagram account (Cue in the flood of haters please, thank you).

But as 90’s pop culture queen Paris Hilton once said “There is no such thing as bad publicity”. With all that said, I must confess, being on the receiving end of such hatred does sting, and being compared to jobless trust fund babies is nothing to be proud of especially during such troubling times.

Growing up in a small town in Mexico, didn’t allow for unlimited creative expression, and so I fled to find my story away from many narrow-minded individuals. I wanted to succeed in the world of fashion but everything I did and everything I have has been earned through hard work and with a goal in mind. My parents granted me amazing opportunities and support but it was me alone who sought a fashion career that put me on the front rows of Fashion Week.

Going through the RKOI page all I could see was the offspring’s of the 1% displaying their opulent wealth. I truly wish that you don’t see me as a spoiled brat whose main job is to post instagrams of himself drinking champagne in private planes. If people took the time to read they would see that not everything I wear is designer. Yes, I like luxury, sue me! But who doesn’t aspire for the finest things in life?

Luxury is part of fashion but it is not everything. Fashion doesn’t mean you have to spend thousands of dollars to look like a million bucks.

Don’t believe me?

EXAMPLE: My favorite look for Milan Fashion Week

¿No me crees?

Aquí la prueba

Moshi

Having to be on my phone constantly has become part of my job description.  You know that iPhone´s don’t last very long. I don’t care if you iPhone 7 has more life battery but if you are like me always on your phone you will need some extra juice. My Moshi Ionbank not only charges my phone on the go, its simplicity and light weight gives you up to 2 full iPhone charges.

Moshi has such a good reputation in technology you can find products at any Apple store. And since being on my phone is such big part of my job you can imagine that listening to music comes in hand. My new Avanti headphones not only look stylish and on point but they actually fit your head perfectly due to a metal headpiece that incorporates magically.  I´ve tried tons and tons of headphones but none like these ones. You forget that you are wearing them because of they are super light weight and perfect to walk, run, or simply hop around.

Having extra juice and a good background jam is essential for me but you need something to carry them around. Thanks to Moshi I can easily have all my travel essentials in one bag. The Urbana bag has the perfect space for my laptop, mini iPad, iPhone, headphones and of course my extra battery. I couldn’t be happier with the product my only concern is the zipper. I constantly stack up my bags (I have so much stuff with me all the time) and with no exception I thought I would do the same with the Urbana bag unfortunately the zipper breaks when you carry to much junk. I don’t know it might be the universe telling me to leave some stuff home but I just like being prepared for any occasion.

The first Men’s fashion week took off this year with the Spring/Summer 2016 collections at Skylight Clarkson Square. A week that has been long overdue in New York that while somewhat less hectic than the women’s fashion week, is still as organized and supported. The designers and show-goers set the tone with pops of red and royal blue, stripes, crazy/fun prints and relaxed fits. Over 40 designers showcased their work this year, and these are some of the shows that spoke to my personal style the most.

Theory is a brand know for it’s minimalistic and clean esthetic, was as clean cut as always. The show was on the rooftop of the Theory headquarters in the Meatpacking District, which made it a unique experience while adding a touch of the minimalism of the brand. There was also an undertone of androgyny with the addition of women modeling mens clothing. The theme was relaxed fit formal wear, with black, brown, and grey tones. Then, on the opposite end of the spectrum we have Nautica’s show, which was mainly swimwear, with varying lengths and styles. They showcased lots of stripes, solids and some prints as well as having summer knits and light raincoats.

Parke and Ronen also had a lot of swimwear and beachwear, mainly tank tops, mid length swim trunks and speedos. Although, their headbands, short sleeve button ups, and printed bomber jackets have to be the highlight of their show for me. They also featured lots of stripes and cool prints. Last but definitely not least, Ricardo Seco, whom is a Mexican designer, featured some of the brightest prints of the week (La Loteria). He had matching print ensembles, short sleeve button ups, summer bomber jackets and some swimwear as well.

All in all, I have to say this was an amazing first New York Fashion Week: Men’s. This experience was extremely personal to me and I am so happy I got to be a part of it. I am very grateful to all the designers and supporters who collaborated to make this happen, and I can’t wait for the next NYFWM!
